Conference Assistant

About the Conference Assistant (CA) Position

The Conference Assistant position with Summer Conference Housing has historically been one of the most competitive, challenging, and rewarding student employment opportunities on campus. Conference Assistants are responsible for the execution of over 125 conferences and camps each summer that bring over 25,000 guests to the university. These guests will spend over 60,000 nights in our residence halls and will eat almost 100,000 meals!

Conference Assistants are responsible for staffing the 24-hour front desk of our operation and assisting our meeting planners with conference preparation during the first few weeks of our season. To further enrich their experience, Conference Assistants will then have the opportunity to plan conferences on their own beginning in early June. We ultimately hire Managers based on their performance as Assistants, making the first year an extremely integral one. Because of the demands of the position, Conference Assistants may not take classes during their employment and they may not have any other part-time or full-time employment.

If you have questions regarding this position prior to the interview process, please do not hesitate to contact the Director, Matthew Gaul, at (614) 292-9725 or via email at Gaul.11@osu.edu.  Please type your application.

Office Assistant

About the Office Assistant (OA) Position

Summer Conference Office Assistants are responsible for staffing the residence hall front desks of occupied buildings throughout the summer season.  Given this role's overall visibility and accessibility to guests with pressing questions, comments and concerns, it remains absolutely vital to Summer Conference's continued success to have the most committed and enthusiastic OA staff possible.  Our customer feedback scores soar when we do.

Since OAs provide 24-hour supervision of our buildings, both day (7:00am-11:00pm) and night (11:00pm-7:00am) shifts are available in 3-hour increments.  It is also important to note that the OA position is fundamentally a part-time role, so it does allow for second jobs, taking classes, and as long as the 21-hour per week and weekend hour commitments are upheld, extended breaks from campus.  OAs interested in working full-time (38 hours per week) may do so as long as they are not enrolled academically.  Enrolled OAs may only work 28-hours per week.

The Office Assistant compensation package includes an hourly rate of $8.15 as well a Double Room on North Campus.  A Meal Plan and RPAC Pass are unfortunately not included in this role's compensation.

It is also important to note that Office Assistants can be considered as waitlisted Conference Assistants, should they not recieve an offer for that role immediately following the hiring process.

If you have questions regarding this position prior to the interview process, please do not hesitate to contact the Director, Matthew Gaul, at (614) 292-9725 or via email at Gaul.11@osu.edu.  Please type your application.
